Worksop 5 - 8 Notts Casuals

Worksop entertained Nottingham side “Casual” in what was to be their 2nd home league fixture and 6th league appearance with only the one win.

Casuals being towards the top of the league were always going to be a threat to the home side now lying third placed from the bottom of the table, but with the recent spell of injuries and work commitments from the Worksop players putting stop to their performance, this time it was different with the team being almost back to full strength. The only player not being available in the pack was Prop Richard Hutton who was replaced by veteran stalwart Robert Ebbs.

Worksop 19 - 35 Notts Casuals

Worksop seconds went to the game against Casuals with a few changes due to illness with high expectations with the performances they had been putting in the recent weeks.

Arriving on time Worksop had time to warm up and with a rearranged pack managed to sort a few moves out. This was well justified with good pressure saw Worksop keeping Casuals in their own half for the first twenty minutes, but a breakout saw Casuals run the full length of the pitch to score a try against the run of play. This spurred Worksop on even more and with more pressure by the forwards so scrum half Ian Slater quick thinking doing a reverse pass to A Bainbridge who himself using a quick pass saw new youngster D Billam go over for a fine try A Bainbridge converting from the line.
