Worksop 18 - 31 Amber Valley

Worksop fulfilled their main aim for the season on Saturday by staying in Midlands 3. Despite losing to Amber Valley in their last league game they earned their place in this division by way of other results and by not getting beaten by 150 points.

The home side started brightly and didn’t take long to register the 1st points of the game when the ball was sent sailing down the back line and ended up in the hands of Liam Beard who danced inside one defender and then blasted his way over for only his 2nd try of the season. It didn’t take the visitors long to respond and ran in two tries in quick succession, converting only one though. As the half drew to a close Andy Waddell kicked two penalties to keep Worksop in close contention.

1st XV v Kesteven (H) League - 10th April 2010 - Match Report

Worksop 20 - 20 Kesteven

Worksop moved another step closer to survival last weekend with a hard fought draw with fourth placed Kesteven.

For the second time this season Worksop were forced into changing their kit due to a colour clash but this didn’t seem to bother the home side though as they started brightly. From the kick off the first 10 minutes belonged to Worksop as they applied excellent pressure to the visitors on the try line, but as has been the case on so many occasions this season they couldn’t convert this pressure into points and when Worksop were penalised for an offence in the scrum Kesteven cleared their lines. From the resulting line out Kesteven mounted their own period of pressure and after some excellent recycling scored an unconverted try. Worksop replied almost immediately from the restart when Andy Waddell kicked a penalty.
